So, with no further ado, after much soul searching, we have decided to switch agencies. We spoke with our social worker today (who by the way is amazing and I wish we could take her with us!!) and she was very gracious & understanding as to why we were switching. Jamie and I know in our hearts that this is the right decision for us and our future family. It is a bit daunting, but if others can do it (if you are reading this you know who you are!) so can we. We are hoping to be signed with a new agency by the end of the week, and then keep moving forward to the land of Kaz and our little guy!!
Thank you to everyone who offered us great support and words of encouragement during this frustrating time! We are forever grateful to you. And thank you to those who were gracious enough to talk to us about their agency experiences with total honesty. We are forever grateful to you as well. And a big thanks as usual, to our family, friends, and the adoptive community - you are all amazing!
If anyone would like to hear more about why we are changing, feel free to email me directly.

Congratulations on this difficult decision. We feel so totally relieved in changing agencies, every moment I feel so much better about our decision, even though we had already been waiting for over 6 months and were informed many times that our travels were going to be "soon." I'm curious to know what CHI said. Hurry up! Get your dossier in so we can travel together!
Good news for you! I'm sure it was difficult, but you are on your way now!
I am glad you are at peace with your decision. Having a good agency makes all the difference!
You're doing the right thing. My wife and I worked with CHI and traveled to Almaty, Kazakhstan this past October. We ended up returning home from Kazakhstan empty handed. I cannot tell you how devastating that experience was for us and feel very strongly that another agency would have done a better job at representing our best interests.
Best of Luck. Please contact us if we may be of assistance in any way.

Hi guys,
I just found your blog. Your heart will never led you astray - we are glad that you have followed it and have peace about it. We agree with Chris......
We look forward to following your journey!
That is great news. I know this could not be an easy decision but it is better off to do it now so you can move on and get your little man. Best wishes to you and as I have said through this process, when your child is ready you will get the call to come and get him.

Girl, you know how I feel. Good decision...best of your life probably. That would be sooooo much fun if you traveled with matt and Suzanne. I would be jelous for sure and would maybe have to fly out for a visit.
Traveling with you would be fun! Hurry up and get that dossier in! Suz
Kim & Jamie-
I just found your blog. We are Chicago (suburbs) & also used CHI. We LOVE our local social worker. She is an amazing person. As for the Kaz team in St Louis...well, without going into too much detail, I think you made a great decision. Hang in there...your dream will be realized!
I have great empathy with you. I, too, changed agencies early on after learning concerns about my former agency's in-country staff. It's now 6 months later and I can assure you that I'm very much at peace about my decision. Had I not made it, I would still be stressing with worry and concern--rather than looking forward with excitement to traveling to Kaz in 3 short months. I wish you well. Best, Susan
Hi there! I am just trying to spread the word that I am designing blogs for a good cause. Please check out http://madebynikki.blogspot.com
Thanks!

I also used AA and I live close by, in Evanston. I adopted from Russia but just wanted to let you know I am here!
Hope things move along quicker with this new homestudy agency. You are still with Adoption Ark right?
Wishing you the best and hoping you have a Merry Christmas!
It sounds like you made a very good decision for you. Much of this process is such a leap of faith... and it is hard to not be anxious about that if you are losing faith in your agency. Which one did you end up choosing?
Looking forward to the rest of the story...

How strange that we are at the same point right now. As you know we just switched to LMI. Good luck to you and we will be following your story.
